An ageless book revealing the horrors if the collectivism. For those who romanticize socialism and her more dangerous sister, communism, read this book to get a glimpse of what is to come if such ideology take hold of our country. Exaggerated? Perhaps, but the premise is valid and frightening.
By Book Woman
In her novel Anthem, Ayn Rand provides a simple, yet comprehensive answer to the question - "What is freedom?" This is the second book of Ayn Rand's that I have read, the first being
Atlas Shrugged: (Centennial Edition). Anthem is much shorter, but contains the same powerful writing and unique blending of fiction and philosophy.
Given the short nature of the book, it's a very easy read and I highly recommend it to anyone who would like to get a sense of what Ayn Rand is about and one of the underlying messages of her work. Anthem is impressive in that as a short story it masterfully weaves together the concepts of invention, freedom, conscious thought, and the power of the individual. As with Atlas Shrugged, Anthem will make you think.
